I feel like a bit of a prick pointing this out, as this piece is conveying very sad news, but having said that, you have to remember that this is Channel 9, not some ropey personal blog such as the one you're currently reading.
Wouldn't this headline have scanned better as Two killed in Perth horror crash?
Literacy doesn't seem to be this reporter's strong point. If that's the case, and it shouldn't be, whatever happened to the copy editor?
