Political Paranoia

Are your nostrils starting to feel inflamed? It could be because election time is in the air, and this year there's two of them in fairly quick succession.

First of all, on the 8th of March, comes the state election. I thought maybe I'd do something I haven't done for a little while now, and go for the postal vote - mainly to get the chance to see who the candidates are so I can investigate who they are (if possible), and what their parties are about.

The only thing is, and I've only just found this out, due to the Electoral Act 1907 - section 100F, if I go down the postal route, my name and enrolled address can be shared with the parties and/or candidates. It was something I was completely ignorant of up 'til now.

Which leads me to wondering do I want politicians, both seasoned and aspiring, to get a hold of my personal details? You know, like the guy who recently changed his name to Austin Trump.

This fellow seems to be suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome, but from the other end of the political spectrum. A complete fanboy.

He's already a Member of Parliament. Formerly of both Labor and One Nation, now running as an independent.

The name change comes across as a ploy that smacks of desperation. Either that, or he's a sandwich or three short of a picnic spread.
